Kerr Family, Holidays 2008

Thank you for visiting our site, our family is very passionate about our very special animals.

Shana grew up with Doberman Pinschers and Cocker Spaniels, and always wanted to some day have giant breed dogs.  Chris grew up with cats, his family never owned any dogs.  As soon as we purchased our first home, we adopted a fawn female Great Dane named Torre from a Phoenix area Great Dane Rescue.  Sadly, Torre was shortly after diagnosed with cancer and only had a few short months with us before she passed.  But, we began actively volunteering for and fostering for Great Dane rescue.  We are still very active with Great Dane rescue and now operate a non profit and volunteer run rescue for Great Danes and English Mastiffs called Arizona Animal Assistance, in the past 5 years we have helped over 300 animals, mostly giant breed dogs.

In our home we always have at least one or two, or up to five at times, rescue foster dogs temporarily staying with us while they await adoption. Since our first Great Dane we have been owned by several wonderful giants.

In 2005 we became interested in confirmation and competitive obedience, as well as therapy dog work, with pure breed dogs. Our two Newfoundlands, Norman and Bee, are both certified therapy dogs and Norman is also a registered service dog. We now are owned by several wonderful dogs and cats, some are happy simply being spoiled pets and some are both house pets and compete in and enjoy pure breed dog and cat events. Please take the time to check out our site and meet each one of our beautiful 4 legged family members.

We are very grateful to Doreen Beale for blessing us with Norman our male Newfoundland and our first confirmation dog. He enabled us to find a sincere love for dog shows and competitive events.  We would also like to thank Janet and Joe Conti for assisting Keenan with his first show dog, Monkey, the funny French Bulldog.  They enjoy handling class, squeaky toys, and all aspects of life together.  Every young boy should have a dog, especially one with such a wonderful sense of humor!  And most recently we are so grateful to Jeanie Eischens for Visa, our Great Dane, as well as Colette Hayes for mentoring us as we learn to tape ears and learn to owner handle.

All of our animals are family pets first, all live in our home with us, and are considered to be family members.  We live in sunny Maricopa, Arizona.

We are members in good standing with the Mastiff Club of America, Mesquite Newfoundland Club and the Phoenix Bulldog Club.  Shana is also a certified American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen evaluator.

We hope you enjoy learning about and viewing pictures of our furry kids, they truly make our lives whole.

What a kid!

Moto has become a big part of the Kerr family activities, with the boys riding pretty much every chance they get!  Despite experiencing a very scary fall and a broken clavicle, the boy rides with determination and skill! The boy rides a KTM SX Pro 50 and a Honda 50cc, dad rides a Honda 250 X, and mom and the dogs just watch.
